Morning

We went to Pearl Harbor National Memorial. It is a national park built to remember and honor those who died in the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. After watching the video and seeing the exhibits, we went to see the USS Arizona memorial. Seeing the boat lying under the water made us think about those who suffered in the war and about those who are suffering in war in the world today.

Afternoon
After having lunch, we had a guided tour on the USS Missouri, a retired warship. Inside the ship was the exhibition about navy, what the US was like during World War II. There was also an exhibition about a Kamikaze Unit. Inside the ship, we saw the kitchen and bedrooms, which helped us imagine what the life was like onboard the ship. We also had a discussion with Lead Park Ranger Holly Dobbs and the Superintendent of Pearl Harbor National Memorial, Tom Leatherman. We were able to ask many questions and deepen our understanding.
